Firm Partner Featured in The Wall Street Journal
Partner Louis Y. Fishman was quoted extensively by the The Wall Street Journal in its September 1, 2004 article headlined "Corporate-Governance Law Is the Rage."
Fishman was interviewed in connection with the Tulane Law School course he co-taught in Spring 2004, "Corporate Governance Post-Enron." The course proved extremely popular, attracting 75 students – 50 more than expected.
Fishman told the Journal "I think the students realized that this is a hot topic." He noted that students are highly aware that in their future careers, "they need to be pro-active in terms of understanding what they're doing, and if it doesn't pass the smell test -- if there seems to be something wrong -- it needs to be taken to another level."
Fishman said he routinely drew "excruciating" diagrams of Enron transactions in various colors on the classroom's boards to explain their complexities. "I wanted students to understand what was going on at Enron, so if they saw something like it they would recognize it," he said.
