We’re Number 1 – Again
For the fourth straight year, our firm was ranked tops among Louisiana corporate and M&A law firms in America’s Leading Business Lawyers, published by Chambers & Partners. Firm partner Louis Fishman was hailed as one of the number one practitioners in the corporate and M&A fields, and every single partner of the firm over 35 was recognized as a top practitioner in his field.
One observer interviewed by Chambers declared that we have “the most distinguished roster of corporate lawyers in the state.” Chambers also noted that many of our clients believe the firm “merits consideration alongside the top New York firms.”
As one satisfied client explained: “[Their] lawyers offer the complete package – impeccable knowledge, outstanding negotiation skills, a proactive approach to getting things done and the ability to make every client feel like their number-one priority.”
Here’s what else Chambers says about us:
Corporate / M&A
Peers have huge respect for senior partners Louis Fishman and Paul Haygood, who were billed as among Louisiana’s cororate Law "wise men." They were noted to have trained many of the leading securities lawyers in New Orleans. Focusing more heavily on M&A work, the “extremely diplomatic” Fishman was also a firm favorite among interviewees: “He has excellent people skills, which he uses to maximize his position in negotiations.” Commentators described Haygood as “a man of integrity who knows the ins and outs of Louisiana law.” Hot on the heels of the firm's foremost practitioners, Robert Walmsley impressed the market with his M&A and financing work. A “personable and consummate professional,” he represents a diverse range of business clients . . . . “[C]lient-oriented” was how Chambers described John Werner.
Banking & Finance
The “first-rate banking practice” at this corporate boutique is involved in a variety of work on behalf of both borrowers and lenders. . . .
“A great teacher who has created rather than hired a superb team,” Scott Willis was commended by clients for the quality of his performances on both sides of lending transactions. . . .
Commercial Litigation
This compact five-lawyer team attracts significant cases from some of the state's big-name clients, including key finance sector entities and municipalities. . . .
“Talented, astute and an expert performer before the jury” was how interviewees summed up James Swanson. He heads the litigation practice at the firm and has acted for the likes of The Times-Picayune.
