Fishman Haygood Ranked Top Louisiana Corporate Firm (Again)
For the seventh year in a row, we were ranked at the top of Louisiana corporate and M&A law firms by America's Leading Business Lawyers, published by Chambers & Partners. Every one of our partners over age 35 was ranked as a top practitioner in his or her field.
The UK-based legal publishing company bases its rankings on personal interviews with clients and attorneys across the United States.
Here's what Chambers had to say about us:
Corporate / Mergers & Acquisitions: "This firm enjoys long-standing relationships with many clients, impressing with its in-depth expertise in securities, an area in which it is known as 'the standard bearer in Louisiana,' as well as in corporate governance, M&A transactions and other corporate affairs. Clients praise the 'exceptional service' that sees Louis Fishman 'take a leading role on all of our deals,' with reliable backup from 'the state's top talent.' Much of the compact team's work is for publicly traded companies, involving players in many industries including private equity, shipping, retail and banking. Paul Haygood maintains an excellent practice. Robert Walmsley is also esteemed, while John Werner has a diverse practice, but wins particular praise for tax credit-related work."
Banking & Finance: "This firm has recently assisted clients in the sustainable energy, natural resources, retail and banking sectors among others, on loan facilities and other transactions. Many of its clients are banks involved in M&A deals in the financial services industry. The firm's compact size wins acclaim, as clients believe it enables the firm to be 'nimble, focused and efficient.' Sterling Scott Willis has 'an absolute focus on getting the deal done' and brings an 'intellectual yet practical approach' to matters including commercial real estate facilities on behalf of both banks and borrowers."
General Commercial Litigation: "A large proportion of this firm's practice is devoted to plaintiff side work, often for the State of Louisiana, and in cases often conducted on a contingency fee basis. Recently seen in a number of First Amendment cases, James Swanson is feared by his opponents and affirmed by all to be 'highly effective.' Loretta Mince has also represented clients on First Amendment matters and is cultivating a 'superb practice.'"
